Job Description / Duties
Queens College’s Aaron Copland School of Music seeks a Director of Vocal Studies at the rank of full-time Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule), starting with the fall 2014 semester. Primary responsibilities include: (1) coordinating both the undergraduate and graduate vocal performance programs, adjunct voice faculty (including studio assignments), and voice department activities such as voice major recitals, master classes, voice auditions, and recruitment activities; (2) teaching applied voice (both undergraduate and graduate) and voice-related courses such as diction and vocal pedagogy; (3) assuming an ongoing and active role in the recruitment of voice students; and (4) serving on appropriate committees and performing other related faculty functions.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Required:
Doctorate (DMA) in vocal performance and a minimum of five years of vocal teaching experience at the university level.
Preferred qualifications include:
1) Evidence of a successful and accomplished performing career; 2) Demonstrated track record of recruitment at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as experience building and maintaining a high-quality vocal performance program; 3) Experience teaching a wide variety of voice-related courses; 4) Soprano voice preferred.
