Job Description / Duties

You will be giving private voice lessons in a one on one situation to a variety of students, mainly in CCM styles. Most of our clientele is extremely diverse racially and with regard to sexual orientation and gender minorities. You should be sensitive to the issues of these communities while helping them achieve their vocal goals.

We have a private studio set up in Normal Heights near the corner of Adams Avenue and 33rd St. where you will be working. Most of the sessions are 50 minutes long, with occasional shorter lessons for kids. However, mostly our clientele is adults age 20 and over.

You’ve already been through a lot of education and a lot of pedagogical training, so mostly I don’t interfere with that too much. You have your style and you know what works for you and the clients, and we respect that.

Qualifications / Required Skills

We’re looking for people who are community minded, fun, who enjoy people, and who love music and singing. If you have a passion project on the side, that’s awesome and we’d like to hear more about it because that really informs the person who you are and that’s what we’re interested in.

As far as education, we require some sort of a post-grad degree of two years or more duration in vocal pedagogy. We are not looking for people who solely have a performance degree, but people who have invested in the teaching end of their career as well, in the form of an advanced degree or two year advanced certificate in vocal pedagogy.

Additional Information

Toward the end of trying to be a better employer than you may have had, we offer these benefits:

For both full-time and part-time employees
* Paid sick leave
* Paid vacation leave
* Paid holidays when they fall on your teaching day
