Job Description / Duties

The School of Music in the College of Music and Performing Arts at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Classical Voice at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning August 1, 2022. The School of Music is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Classical Voice/Voice Pedagogy beginning August 1, 2022
The primary job responsibilities for this position include teaching classical applied voice lessons and vocal pedagogy/voice science courses. Experience leading a graduate Vocal Pedagogy program—preferably one that encompasses various musical styles—is desirable. The successful candidate will be an engaging teacher-artist with expertise in current classical vocal pedagogical principles, performance practice, literature, languages, and developments in the field. An annual teaching load would include a combination of applied lessons and academic courses equaling a 24-hour teaching workload. Additional primary responsibilities include academic advising, maintaining scholarly/creative endeavors, student recruitment, and performing department, college, and university service.

Qualifications / Required Skills

An earned doctorate (D.M.A. or D.A) in classical vocal performance or equivalent is required; ABD considered. Collegiate teaching experience in classical voice and vocal pedagogy is preferred. The rank for this position will determined by previous experience in higher education and scholarly contributions.
