Job Description / Duties

The Department of Music at the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN–LA CROSSE is soliciting qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure-track position to teach Applied Voice, Class Voice, Treble Chorus, and a small vocal ensemble.

We are seeking a teacher-artist who will provide leadership and collaboration in our music program, especially in the vocal/choral areas. The instructional load will include:

voice lessons (individuals for majors/minors whose principal area of study is voice)
class voice (for music education students and those students who desire to improve their singing) and
performance-oriented choral ensembles.

For the small vocal ensemble, the Department desires a leader who can provide diverse experiences apart from those in the larger traditional choral ensembles. Small ensemble possibilities would include vocal jazz or contemporary styles.
Additional teaching responsibilities may be assigned according to the candidate’s strengths and the school’s needs. The applicant should also convey a commitment to supporting the recruitment of music majors for the program and serving on relevant department committees.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Required Qualifications:
-Earned doctorate in Music from an accredited university; ABD will be considered. The degree must be earned by the personnel review held in the spring of the first year.
-University teaching experience in applied voice;
-Choral conducting experience; and
-Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion as well as evidence of a collaborative and open-minded approach to working with students and colleagues.

Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications:
-University teaching experience in class voice;
-Professional experience as a vocal performer;
-Choral conducting at the university or professional level; and
-Experience with jazz or contemporary vocal ensemble.
-Public school teaching experience would also be desirable.
