Job Description / Duties

Job Description: The Ithaca College School of Music, Theater, and Dance invites applications for a full-time, tenure-eligible position in choral conducting as Director of Choral Activities at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2023. The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance is strongly committed to increasing the diversity of its curriculum and fostering an inclusive environment for its campus community. To that end, candidates with related experience are encouraged to apply and to identify their strengths and expertise in these areas.

Primary Responsibilities: Provide curricular and administrative leadership of the choral program; direct choral ensemble(s); continue to grow the program’s long reputation of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity; teach conducting and other courses based on candidate’s specialization and program needs; engage in programmatic duties associated with recruitment and retention; collaborate with faculty and serve on various school and college committees; establish ongoing professional performing and scholarly activity.

Required Qualifications: A master’s degree and evidence of success as a choral conducting pedagogue and artist are required. All candidates should possess specific skills in and a demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive environment. Special Consideration will be given to candidates with a doctoral degree and a proven record of teaching excellence within a collegiate music program.
