Job Description / Duties

The School of Music in the College of Music and Performing Arts at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Commercial Voice at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning August 1, 2022. Belmont's School of Music is a premier comprehensive music unit, nationally recognized for distinctive programs and committed to high standards of artistic scholarship and performance while championing innovation and stylistic diversity.

Job responsibilities for this position include providing instruction in undergraduate and graduate commercial applied voice and related courses in performance and style and other courses as needed; direction of vocal ensemble in the commercial genre may be included based on candidate’s background and area of expertise. An annual teaching load would include a combination of applied lessons and academic courses equaling a 24-hour teaching workload. Additional primary responsibilities include academic advising, maintaining scholarly/creative endeavors, student recruitment, and performing department, college, and university service.

Qualifications / Required Skills

A terminal degree in commercial, studio music, or jazz voice is required for tenure-track; master’s degree candidates may be considered for non-tenure track based on qualifications and experience. Collegiate teaching experience in commercial voice is preferred.
