John Brown University Department of Music & Theatre seeks a full-time faculty member, Assistant Professor of Music - Director of Choral Activities, beginning August 1, 2023. Responsibilities include conducting choral ensembles, teaching courses in music theory, music history, and conducting, and recruiting for the department.

Qualifications / Required Skills

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A Master’s degree or higher in choral conducting, music education (vocal), or a closely-related field
- Professional or semi-professional choral conducting experience
- A commitment to growing and maintaining a healthy choral community
- A commitment to the integration of faith and learning
- A commitment to working with a diverse population of students
- Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A doctoral degree in choral conducting, music education (vocal), or a closely-related field
- Experience leading undergraduate choral ensembles
- Experience teaching undergraduate music courses
- Experience leading choral or vocal education clinics and workshops
- Active membership in professional choral associations

Our Cathedral Choir, established in 1942, tours nationally and internationally and is the centerpiece of JBU’s annual Candlelight Services, which draw 3,500 people to campus each year.
