Job Description / Duties

The University of Northern Colorado School of Music invites applications for a contract-renewable, full-time appointment as an applied voice faculty member. The successful candidate will actively recruit music majors within the framework of our goal of increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work collaboratively with colleagues to advance the School’s programs and initiatives. Candidates with bass-baritone voice type and areas of specialization in early music are especially encouraged to apply. Specific responsibilities include teaching undergraduate voice lessons, studio class, and possibly additional areas within the School of Music based on a candidate’s strengths, qualifications, and interests. Graduate teaching is possible with appropriate credentials. Other assignments will depend on interest, experience, and program needs.

Our 40 full-time and 30 adjunct faculty teach and support over 350 music majors pursuing undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees in programs including performance, music education, jazz studies, music business, composition, theory, and history & literature; and certificate programs in Music Technology and Arts Entrepreneurship. Primarily housed in historic Frasier Hall, our facilities include a fully equipped and professionally managed recording studio and the new Campus Commons Performance Hall. Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications
- ABD in Vocal Performance with degree completed by January 2024, or commensurate professional experience
- 1 year of teaching voice and related coursework at the college level

Preferred Qualifications
- Bass-Baritone voice type
- Terminal degree in Vocal Performance or commensurate professional experience
- 2 years of teaching voice and related coursework at the college level, including some graduate level teaching
- Experience in performing early music and working with early music ensembles
- Record of professional performing experience of a regional or wider scope
