Job Description / Duties

The Mead Witter School of Music invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Voice. We seek a colleague who will join a nationally renowned faculty and contribute to our program through teaching courses that develop and support a wide range of musical endeavors. We are focused on the ways higher education can change lives and benefit the world around us. The successful candidate will contribute to an inclusive, fair, and equitable environment that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community. Duties include recruiting and teaching a studio of undergraduates, MM, and DMA students and offering voice-related courses as needed and assigned. Additional responsibilities include carrying out creative scholarship appropriate to a tenure-track position at a top-ten public research university, contributing to the School's educational, creative, research, and engagement missions, participating in graduate degree committees, and providing leadership and service within the School, College and University. Tenor, baritone or bass preferred, with all applicants considered.

Responsibilities will include:
--Recruit and teach a diverse studio of voice students (undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels, including music performance majors, music education majors and double majors).
--The expectation is to teach 15-17 students with courses as needed in candidate's area of expertise and voice-related topics. Studio size may be reduced depending on the course load.
--Teach a weekly studio class.
--Demonstrate the School's commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, access and belonging, recognizing the gifts and needs of all students, with a desire to build relationships across diverse campus and community groups.
--Pursue and implement opportunities for program development.
--Carry out creative scholarship appropriate to a tenure-track position.
--Contribute vigorously to the school's educational, research, and engagement missions.
--Serve on graduate degree committees.
--Carry out leadership and service and contribute to shared governance within the school, college, and University.
--As a member of the College of L&S, will proactively contribute to, support, and advance the college's commitment to diversity among all aspects of their teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications / Required Skills

--Master's Degree in Music or similar required by start of appointment
--Minimum of 3 years of college level instructional experience prior to start date
--Previous experience teaching voice-related courses
--Broad knowledge of diverse repertoire
--Language skills in English, Italian, French, and German
--Demonstrate experience with fostering or the ability to foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching, learning, departmental, and research environment where all can thrive

Preference will be given to candidates with successful teaching and recruitment experience in voice at the college level, a record of professional performing experience at the national/international level, clear potential for future success in performance, and evidence of significant creative/research activities.
