Job Description / Duties

Wilkes University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank in Applied Voice and Choral Conducting. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting the University Chorus and the Chamber Singers Ensemble as well as teaching private voice lessons and master classes to approximately twenty-five to thirty Musical Theatre majors and Music minors. Additional responsibilities include adjudicating entrance auditions for B.F.A. musical theatre candidates. Candidates with experience providing vocal coaching or musical direction for musical theatre productions are especially encouraged to apply.

Qualifications / Required Skills

An earned doctorate in Music is required. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated prior experience in directing, developing, recruiting, and maintaining a choral music program at the collegiate level. The candidate should also have college-level experience in applied voice instruction to include bel canto, musical theatre, and belt technique. The ideal candidate will have good skills as a pianist and solid knowledge of traditional and contemporary musicals.
