Job Description / Duties
The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in the Voice Department. Expected start date: August 1, 2025.
Responsibilities for this position include studio teaching of undergraduate and graduate voice majors in all degree and diploma programs; teaching of departmental courses, including diction, song literature (master’s and/or doctoral), pedagogy (master’s and/or doctoral), or opera workshop (graduate or undergraduate) in an area of the candidate’s passion and expertise. Service on Jacobs School committees and participation in departmental meetings, hearings, auditions, recruitment activities and doctoral advisory committees is expected.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Completed doctorate required by the starting date of the appointment (August 1, 2025), ABD considered; equivalent professional experience will also be considered. Soprano or mezzo-soprano preferred. Applicants should possess an existing record of strong teaching in both applied voice (as evidenced by their students’ accomplishments, their admission to graduate degrees, and successful entry into the professional arena) and voice-related classes.
Additional Information
Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, as appropriate; ten-month, tenure-track position. For tenure-track appointees: initial three-year appointment followed by annual appointments upon successful reappointment reviews; tenure decision in the sixth year after initial appointment. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
