Job Description / Duties
The primary assignment is to teach applied voice to music majors. Other areas of teaching may include diction for singers, vocal literature, vocal pedagogy, opera direction, or other voice-related needs as are within the candidate’s expertise. The successful candidate will provide an artistic model through solo and/or collaborative performances, possess adequate keyboard skills to support vocal instruction, and work closely with members of the vocal and choral faculty to contribute to the Vocal/Choral Area's goals and activities, including weekly studio classes and participation in NATS. All music faculty members are expected to advise music majors, to participate in School of Music and College of Fine Arts governance and music admissions activities (i.e., recruiting and auditioning students), and to maintain collegial relationships with peers.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Terminal degree is required. ABD candidates may be considered if doctorate is earned prior to start date. Evidence of successful college teaching; must be an active performer and/or engaged in professional activities acceptable toward earning tenure. A completed doctorate is required for tenure.
