Job Description / Duties

The appointee will teach, develop and coordinate all aspects of the Collaborative Piano Curriculum, as well as successfully work within the collaborative piano field, both nationally and internationally. The MM, DMA, and Specialist degrees contain classes that are vital to students in both Piano and Voice, including voice literature and aria preparation work. The successful appointee may also be given the possibility of conducting in the opera program at the University of Michigan. The appointee will be expected to: demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence; continue to develop and maintain a visible national and international profile as a pedagogue. The appointee will also be expected to participate in faculty governance, attend faculty meetings, and serve on faculty and university committees as appropriate.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Required: DMA or equivalent professional experience in Collaborative Piano; demonstrated experience in coaching of both pianists and singers; demonstrated potential for rigorous but responsive curricular development; demonstrated organizational ability; demonstrated ability to empower, advocate for, and value a broad range of students of diverse identities and experiences, as shown through pedagogy, mentoring, and related activities.

Preferred: Demonstrated connection to and participation in national and international organizations; demonstrated interest in practical research and advancing the field.
