Job Description / Duties

Duties: Direct and promote the SAU choral ensembles (Heritage Singers and Chamber Singers); teach choral music education and conducting courses; teach applied and/or class voice as needed by the department; recruit vocal students for ensembles and the department and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications: Master’s required; doctorate preferred; public school teaching experience preferred; previous collegiate or university-level teaching experience preferred. Southern Arkansas University is accepting applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position for Director of Choral Activities/Assistant Professor of Music, effective August 2019. Review of applications will begin February 11, 2019.

This position will be housed in the Department of
Performing Arts and Mass Communication. The department offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts with concentrations in Music with Studies in Business, Music Education, Music Performance, Musical Theatre, and Theatre; a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Mass Media and houses various vocal and instrumental ensembles.
