Representative Duties
1. Musical director for the choral program, including planning rehearsals, performances and instruction for the choral program.
2. Teach applied voice lessons and courses in the vocal curriculum as well as general education courses (online and in-person).
3. Teach late afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays and/or off campus locations in support of program needs.
4. Evidence of a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.
5. Knowledge of musicals and evidence of prior experience in serving a musical director.
6. Knowledge of teaching methods appropriate to the college and/or adult level.
7. Ability to teach harmony and musicianship courses (music theory, ear-training, and sight singing).
8. Ability to teach general education courses within the department (online and face to face).
9. Ability to serve as musical director for a spring term musical in collaboration with the theater department.
10. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, booth orally and in writing.
11. Ability to collegially and cooperatively work and interface with faculty, staff, student, and administrator in a shared-governance organization.
12. Ability to advise, recruit, and retain students.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Minimum Education and Experience
1. Master’s Degree in music OR Bachelor’s Degree in Music AND Master’s in humanities OR the equivalent; AND
2. Evidence of understand of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom

Desirable Qualifications
1. Evidence of prior successful experience in the development of a choral music program and recruitment.
2. Evidence of prior experience in the development and teaching of online general education courses.
3. Demonstrated competence in applied vocal teaching and performance.
4. Large ensemble conducting and rehearsal experience and ability to work with diverse populations.
5. Prior experience as a music director of a musical theater production.
Additional Information
Job Work Schedule This position is full-time, tenure-track, 2020-2021 Academic Year. Employment will begin on or about August 13, 2020.
