Job Description / Duties

Applied voice teacher, performer (tenor preferred), and director of Opera Workshop. Must maintain teaching, scholarship/creative activity, and service activities, and must be committed to student recruitment and maintaining communication between the Hayes School of Music and high school choral directors and voice teachers throughout the state and region. Additional teaching and non-teaching duties will be assigned as needed by the voice area and the Hayes School of Music. Performance with the faculty vocal ensemble APPropos! is likely.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Evidence of experience in opera direction and/or production, evidence of accomplishment as a professional performer and university-level teacher, and completed master’s degree required. Doctorate completed by September 15, 2014 required for appointment to tenure track. Other applicants will be considered for appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Instructor.

Additional Information

A complete application will include a letter of interest; a current vita; the names and contact information of at least five references; DVD or electronic links that include the following:
15-20 minutes of live performance by the applicant as a soloist, and 20-25 minutes of the applicant teaching a private voice lesson; and a two- to three-page, 6-8 week, rehearsal and production schedule for an opera, including details related to musical and staging preparation.
