Job Description / Duties

LaGrange College seeks to fill a 2-year non-tenure-line appointment in musical theatre beginning August 1, 2023. We are especially looking for ethnic, racial, and gender diverse candidates who may present different levels of experience and perspectives. The successful candidate will teach voice; serve as the musical director and accompanist for productions; teach musical theatre courses as appropriate to the candidate’s skills; and prepare majors for competitions and auditions. Vigorous recruitment of new students is central to the position, including participation in all regional theatre and musical theatre conferences. We are looking for a strong, energetic leader and collaborator interested in helping to grow our musical theatre program and mentoring musical theatre students.

Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, professional development, and institutional service, as well as an understanding of, and appreciation for, the mission of liberal arts institutions.

Qualifications / Required Skills

A master’s degree is preferred for the position. Work toward a graduate degree and significant professional experience is also acceptable. The successful candidate must have experience teaching voice, have worked in professional musical theatre as a musical director, possess excellent keyboard and sight-reading skills, and have knowledge of musical theatre repertoire.
