Job Description / Duties

Description: Broadmoor Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking applications for a part-time Music Director. This part-time position will require approximately 15 hours in a typical week.

Responsibilities:
• Direct the Music Program at Broadmoor Baptist. This includes all choirs and the Broadmoor Belles and Beaux (handbell ensemble).
• Be available to rehearse with soloists or ensembles, as needed.
• Recruit new members to all choral programs at the church.
• Recruit, train, and supervise leaders for children/youth choirs and youth handbell ensemble.
• Supervise the church’s vocal music internship program.
• Oversee the volunteers that coordinate the music library for all choral groups and handbell ensemble.
• Supervise the care and maintenance of all musical instruments belonging to the church.
• Help plan, execute, and recruit volunteers for special events that involve members of the church music program at all levels. These include musicals, plays, retreats, trips, concerts, etc.
• Secure paid musicians for choral/handbell anthems and special programs (Christmas, Easter), as needed.
• Serve as the Music Director of the summer music camp.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications: Applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in vocal music, choral conducting, or a similar field. Preference will be given to applicants having experience working with choral groups of varying age levels. Candidates should have a strong commitment to developing and strengthening a choral music program within a Christian setting.

Salary: Salary range: $1,500-$2,500 monthly range, depending on education and experience.
