Job Description / Duties
The Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music at Georgia Southern University is seeking a highly skilled and accomplished individual to serve as the Georgia Southern Pianist, Vocal Coach, Music Director, and Conductor. The Music Director requires a proven record of excellence as a collaborative pianist, opera/musical theatre coach, and conductor at the collegiate, national, or international level.
Responsibilities
*Collaborate with the Director of Georgia Southern Opera in planning, scheduling, repertoire selection, casting, securing orchestras, musical preparation, and conducting opera rehearsals and performances
*Partner with the Savannah Voice Festival to plan and execute educational outreach programs involving apprentices
*Provide vocal coaching to individual singers and ensembles on operatic and recital repertoire
*Serve as accompanist for opera productions, concerts, and rehearsals as needed
*Accompany select undergraduate and graduate recitals. Engage as accompanist in applied lessons and coaching of voice students as part of their recital preparation
*Perform as a collaborative pianist at various events, such as NATS auditions
*Actively engage in the voice area's activities, including faculty meetings, juries, auditions, and recruitment efforts
*Work collaboratively with the Coordinator of Collaborative Piano. *Serve as part of a collaborative team of pianists, with shared responsibility for coverage and performance support; occasional stepping in to play may be required but is not the primary expectation
*Potentially teach courses in diction
Qualifications / Required Skills
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in collaborative piano, conducting or similar field
Required Experience:
*One (1) or more years of related experience
*Evidence of an established or emerging national profile with a *minimum of two years' (2) professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
-Demonstrated accomplishments in performance as a collaborative pianist
-Coaching of operatic and vocal repertoire
-Coaching of musical theatre repertoire
-Demonstrated accomplishments as a conductor of operatic and/or musical theatre repertoire
-Successful teaching at the university/young artist level.

Ability to teach diction at the university/collegiate level
Ability and desire to contribute to a dynamic, holistic music program that prepares students for a music career in the 21st century, including initiating and leading innovative community engagement projects
Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
Demonstrated knowledge in both standard and contemporary opera repertory
Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrated knowledge in both standard and contemporary opera repertory
Knowledge in musical theatre and popular song repertory
Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
SKILLS
Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse student body of graduate and undergraduate students and faculty
Professional and collegial collaboration with peers to create and establish a supportive, positive, and productive rehearsal culture
Experience with community partnerships such as apprentice programs
Exceptional planning, organizational, time management, critical thinking, project management, and leadership skills
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines
Experience in planning and prioritizing assignments in relation to existing expectations
Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
