Job Description / Duties

The purpose of this position is to instruct classes and labs as assigned by the Dean. This is accomplished by maintaining requisite office hours; providing academic advisement to students; serving on college committees; attending meetings; participating in professional development activities; and performing all instructional-related activities as directed within the policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations of Northeast Community College.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Education: Requires master’s degree in music or a related field. Successful candidate will meet the degree requirement or be willing to attain the required degree within two years of hire date.

Experience: Seeking an experienced vocal director who is interested in leading a vibrant, well-established music program. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in post-secondary education preferred. Must demonstrate ability to teach students of all levels of musical ability.

Skills: Successful candidate will possess the following: strong vocal abilities, effective communication and inter-personal skills, effective organizational and time-management skills, demonstrated success leading vocal groups in a variety of genres.

Northeast Community College has a rich history of over 40 years of music excellence and a unique mix of student and community participation. The program consists of both instrumental and vocal ensembles; 2 of which are auditioned touring ensembles. Candidates selected for interview will be expected to provide a 15-20 minute teaching demonstration on a subject of his/her choice and provide a video portfolio of student performances under the direction of the candidate.
