2014-15 NATS Chats, presented by Inside View Press, begin Oct. 19
The National Association of Teachers of Singing will partner with Inside View Press in 2014-15 to bring NATS members an interactive NATS Chat experience like never before.
NATS Chat, presented by Inside View Press, will now be available in high-definition web video format, allowing participants to see, hear and engage in conversation with the program’s monthly guest presenter and longtime moderator Kari Ragan. Participants will be able to ask questions via web video or audio, see presentation slides or other resources included by the presenter, and interact in sidebar conversations with others in the chat room. Standard chat via text box will also be available – allowing those without video or audio capability on their computers the opportunity to ask questions of the guest and audience.
Inside View Press is providing sponsorship for the new platform, which is powered by GoToWebinar. Up to 250 participants may join each session.
Sessions will be held on Sundays each month, beginning at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT. The first session of NATS Chat is scheduled for Oct. 19 — NATS Chat in the Voice Lab: Q&A With Scott McCoy and the Staff of the The Ohio State University Swank Voice Laboratory. Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions about any topic of pedagogic interest, ranging from acoustics and anatomy to teaching methods and repertoire selection.
“NATS has tremendous appreciation for Inside View Press and its support of this year’s NATS Chats program,” NATS Executive Director Allen Henderson said. "Using new technology is important to our members, and this new platform provides the opportunity to interact in a collaborative environment from anywhere in the world. We expect it to be well-received and can’t wait to get the 2014-15 season underway."
Ragan, who returns as moderator of the ongoing series, said “I am looking forward to helping our NATS Chatters navigate this new format. Most importantly, it will create new opportunities to continue our collaborative exchanges about interesting voice topics. It's going to be an exciting year. I look forward to welcoming new NATS Chat members into our fold.”
McCoy said the Inside View Press welcomed the opportunity to help NATS Chat expand its capacity and make its format more dynamic and interactive.
