What's New > New Deadline – March 15 – Set for National Music Theater Competition
Emerging music theater soloists now have until March 15 to submit their application materials for the 2016 National Music Theater Competition — the first national competition for the music theater soloist.
To be eligible, applicants must be between ages 20-28 as of March 1, 2016. The preliminary rounds of the competition take place in New York City, Chicago or Los Angeles in May 2016. An online video submission round is also available for participants who cannot travel to the live audition sites. Approximately 24 singers will advance to the semifinal and final rounds – to be held during the NATS National Conference in Chicago, July 8-12, 2016.
Winners in the 2016 National Music Theater Competition will be awarded:
- 1st Prize: $5,000, plus a concert at the next NATS National Conference, $1,000 Gift Certificate from Hal Leonard Corporation, Career Management Services package from Stage Door Access.
- 2nd Prize: $2,500, plus a $500 Gift Certificate from Hal Leonard Corporation.
- 3rd Prize: $1,000 cash prize.
Entry fee for the competition is $90 (or $75 for students of NATS members).
