The 2015 NATS Winter Workshop will be held at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Fla., from Jan. 8-11. Online registration for the event concludes Dec. 15, after which attendees must register on-site.
The 21st Century Voice Teacher: Re-Tooling, Re-Tuning, Re-Turning To Basics offers sessions whose focus is on the combination of old and new knowledge, skills and tools needed by the 21st Century voice teacher. New awareness of vocal tract acoustics will provide practical tools to tune-up singing and teaching techniques; Feldenkreis “awareness through movement” will help bring unity and balance to the interaction of body and voice, leading to that singing fundamental, free release of the breath; and exploration of ways to release and nurture the creative spirit will open a path to the vital artistic goal, compelling performance.
Primary presenters include Ann Baltz, Kenneth Bozeman and Marina Gillman.
Bonus sessions will feature details on building careers in the modern cruise ship industry, as taught by Nick Herman, and an exploration of the bel canto technique with Virginia Zeani, Marilyn Mims and Virginia Mims.
A special room rate has been secured for NATS members at the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham, which includes free breakfast and Wi-Fi, in addition to a shuttle service to the PBAU campus each day.
