NEW YORK - Six finalists in the National Music Theater Competition (NMTC) were named and will compete in the final round tonight in The Roosevelt Hotel Grand Ballroom in midtown Manhattan. The competition is being held in conjunction with the National Association of Teachers of Singing Winter Workshop and hosted in front of an audience of the music industry’s top professionals.
The 2018 NMTC Finalists are Deon’te Goodman from West New York, N.J., Ta'Nika Gibson from New York, N.Y., Cami Arboles from South Pasadena, Calif., Nathaniel Sullivan from New York, N.Y., Angela Gilbert from Omaha, Neb., and Del’Shawn Taylor from South Bend, Ind.
Their teachers include Carla LeFefvre (Godman), Nancy Andersen (Gibson), Janna Baty (Arboles), Sanford Sylvan (Sullivan), Alisa Belflower (Gilbert), and Paula Rast Harris (Taylor).
The NMTC semifinal round took place earlier today, featuring 24 talented young performers who competed in preliminary rounds from across North America last fall.
The National Music Theater Competition (NMTC) was launched in 2011 as the first national competition for the emerging professional music theater soloist. Now in its fourth iteration, NMTC has provided industry connections to past competitors and winners that have led to their success.
