What's New > Announcing our 2022 NMTC semifinalists!
The biennial NATS National Musical Theatre Competition (NMTC) is a premier event for the emerging professional musical theatre soloist. Through this competition, past competitors and winners have developed industry connections that led to their success on Broadway and other venues.
The competition has completed its preliminary rounds, resulting in the top 24 national semifinalists. The 2022 NMTC semifinal and final rounds will be held in New York City, due to the proximity of music industry’s top professionals in musical theatre.
The 2022 first prize winner will be awarded more than $5,000 in prizes in addition to a concert at the 57th NATS National Conference in Chicago, July 1-6, 2022, and a $1,000 gift certificate from Hal Leonard. Second prize will be awarded $2,500 plus a $500 gift certificate from Hal Leonard. The third and fourth prizes include the Louise Lerch Prize ($1,000) and the Bill Hayes Prize ($750), respectively.
The semifinal and final rounds will take place during the NATS Winter Workshop in New York City on January 8, 2022 at the Manhattan School of Music. Admission to watch the NMTC final round is included in the package for those who are attending the NATS Winter Workshop, which is also being held at the Manhattan School of Music (January 7-9). General admission tickets for the NMTC rounds will be available on-site for $10.
The preliminary rounds of the competition took place during October and November in New York City (National Opera Center) and online, with a video submission option for participants who could not travel to the live audition site.
Event sponsors include Hal Leonard Corporation, Manhattan School of Music, and the Foundation Heritage Fund of the NATS Endowment.
Congratulations to the 2022 NATS National Musical Theatre Competition semifinalists!
