The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) is pleased to announce the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Certificate Program as sponsor of the NATS 2019 Summer Workshop at St. Olaf College, June 27¬29, in Northfield, Minnesota.
“We have partnered with RCM in the past on several significant initiatives and are appreciative of their sponsorship for the NATS Summer Workshop,” said NATS Executive Director Allen Henderson. “Many NATS members benefited from their own participation in the RCM Certificate Program as students and now continue to use the resources from RCM in their own studios.”
In June 2019, the RCM will launch the Voice Series, 2019 Edition. Hailed as the definitive North American resource for teaching and studying voice, the series provides the official material that supports the voice curriculum of the RCM Certificate Program. It offers a holistic approach that promotes healthy singing development for students of all ages and abilities. The series includes nine volumes of exciting repertoire with songs from all style periods, recorded piano accompaniments for every song and a new online community for teachers and parents alike. This year’s summer workshop, “Diction Workshop” offers diction and repertoire sessions and master classes in Russian and Scandinavian repertoire, as well as practical solutions for teaching the standard languages. Opportunities abound for singing in master classes and immersion in new repertoire. The Mentored Teaching Experience is incorporated with the workshop to provide feedback and development opportunities for mid-career teachers. The Workshop also features the semifinal and final rounds of the NATS National Student Auditions.
NATS Workshop presenters include Russian native Anton Belov, author of “Singing in Russian,” Soprano and Fulbright Scholar Anna Hersey, author of “Scandinavian Art Song: A Guide to Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish Diction,” Collaborative pianist Amanda Johnston, author of “English and German Diction for Singers: A Comparative Approach,” and diction guru Cheri Montgomery, author of the “Lyric Diction Workbook Series,” For complete information on the NATS 2019 Summer Workshop including schedule and registration, click here.
