Cherilyn Bacon is a professional actor-singer and voice teacher who has performed leading and sup-porting roles to critical acclaim Off Broadway, in national tours, regional and community theatre in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas and Salt Lake City (Nation tours Pal Joey, A Christmas Carol; principal roles: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Sondheim’s revised Southwest Premiere - Merrily We Roll Along, Baby, Side By Side By Sondheim, Hairspray, Into the Woods, The Sound of Music, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ophelia, Oklahoma!, Some Enchanted Evening (The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein). Cherilyn was on the musical theatre faculty at the prestigious Orange County School of the Arts Conservatory and with Brigham Young University’s Music-Dance-Theatre Department, receiving highest student reviews. Several of her students have be-come professional singers, performing on Broadway. She performs a Cabaret show, in local musical theatre and is a member of the nationally acclaimed Millennial Choirs and Orchestras under the direction of Brett and Brandon Stewart and Cory Mendenhall. Cherilyn was born and raised in Hollywood, California, studied with Metropolitan Opera singer Margaret Romaine, and earned her B.A. in Speech and Drama from BYU. She also studied with noted teachers in major markets and combines the best of their techniques in her private voice studio: Norman Gulbrandsen (father-in-law; Northwestern University); Anne Jackson and Ray Allen (Dallas Summer Musicals); Sheilah Vaughn Walker (Broadway Musical Director – Ragtime, Fiddler); Bill Reed, a protégé of the legendary Oren Brown (NYC), whose technique she uses to safely develop voices with healing voice therapies and vocalises; Ewan Mitton (Utah). She has studied Jan Sullivan's interpretation technique and Alex Rybeck (pianist/arranger). Cherilyn teaches voice technique and coaches song interpretation across the classical, Broadway legit, belt, pop and character styles, along with audition skills and prep, musical theatre repertoire, recording studio/mic techniques and the art of the cabaret performance. Ms. Lazarus has given Cherilyn exclusive rights to teach David Craig’s On Singing Onstage course, integrating his highly effective principles for both audition prep and performance.
