Job Description / Duties

Participate in all activities of the Lawrence Choral Studies Program; direct Viking Chorale and the Lawrence University Concert Choir; classroom teaching in conducting, choral music education; and Lawrence’s flagship First Year Studies program. Other teaching opportunities are possible depending upon candidate’s interests and qualifications. Additional responsibilities include all service-related activities associated with a tenure-track position including student advising, admissions-related responsibilities, recruiting, developing relationships with music educators, and participating in committee assignments and other forms of institutional and community service.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Demonstrated excellence in choral conducting and teaching. Desire to work in a collaborative choral teaching environment. Must be able to bring our students to the highest levels of artistic and musical mastery in a nurturing environment that embraces the notion of the undergraduate choir as classroom, laboratory, as well as first-class performance ensemble. A forward-thinking leader who can work with our students to tackle the question of redefining a 21st century choir. Strong background in Choral Music Education expected. Appropriate terminal degree or equivalent experience. A record of successful collegiate teaching experience preferred. Although this is a conservatory position, strong support of the ideals and goals of a broad liberal arts education is a must.

A two-year sample curriculum of repertoire for the Lawrence Concert Choir (SATB, 5 concerts per year, 30 minutes of music per concert). Salary: Tenure-track. Rank and salary dependent upon qualifications and experience.
